Central Asian gatherings are held in circles. The To'r, or place of honor, goes to
the most senior guest and faces the door from the other side of the room, an area less
exposed to drafts and most secure. Since groups sit in a circle, the host should sit opposite the guest or guests, and a junior member of the household, near the doorway, to receive food, placing it in the center of the circle.
